Symmetry-adapted single crystal yield criterion for non-Schmid materials

چکیده

All yield criteria that determine the onset of plastic deformation in crystalline materials must be invariant under inversion symmetry associated with a simultaneous change sign slip direction and plane normal. We demonstrate consequences this on functional form effective stress, where only lowest order terms obey are retained. A particular criterion is obtained for do not Schmid law, hereafter called non-Schmid materials. Application model to body-centered cubic hexagonal close-packed metals shows which conditions stress become significant predicting yielding. In special case, contributions all stresses vanish, reduces maximum shear theory Tresca.

Aspects of Non-associated Single Crystal Plasticity: Influence of Non-schmid Effects and Localization Analysis

Abstract--The aim of this work is the consideration of so-called non-Schmid effects within nonassociated single crystal plasticity at small strains. To this end, two additional activating mechanisms for dislocation flow on a slip system are modelled. For convenience the corresponding algorithmic setting is discussed in the sequel. Next, the influence of non-Schmid effects and non-associativity ...

Non-Schmid effects and finite wavelength instabilities in single crystal metals

A long standing postulate in crystal plasticity of metals, known as Schmid law, states that yielding commences once the resolved shear stress on a slip plane reaches a critical value. While non-Schmid effects have previously been reported experimentally (mostly in alloys) and in molecular-dynamics simulations, we examine the validity of this assumption through phonon stability analysis. We subj...

Constitutive equations for modeling non-Schmid effects in single crystal bcc-Fe at low and ambient temperatures

Constitutive equations are developed for single crystal bcc-Fe at low and ambient temperatures based on the assumption that non-Schmid effects are primarily influential on orientation dependence and tension–compression asymmetry of the initial yield stress. Temperature dependence of the non-Schmid parameters is extracted from a fit to available experimental data. Constitutive models are also de...

Symmetry Adapted Assur Decompositions

Assur graphs are a tool originally developed by mechanical engineers to decompose mechanisms for simpler analysis and synthesis. Recent work has connected these graphs to strongly directed graphs, and decompositions of the pinned rigidity matrix. Many mechanisms have initial configurations which are symmetric, and other recent work has exploited the orbit matrix as a symmetry adapted form of th...

Symmetry-adapted wavelet analysis

We review the construction of continuous wavelet transforms adapted to a given symmetry. Then we discuss in detail successively spatial wavelets, wavelets on the sphere and space-time wavelets. 1. HOW TO DEFINE AN ADAPTED WAVELET TRANSFORM? As it is well-known [1], wavelet analysis comes in two versions: the continuous one, used mostly for signal or image analysis, and the discrete one, origina...
